The Dictionary defines clarity as:

“clearness or lucidity as to perception or understanding; freedom from

indistinctness or ambiguity.”

 At Strategic Wealth Advisors, clarity results from a confidential exchange of information between us and our clients, which leads to a crystal clear vision of the each client’s goals and objectives. Financial clarity is the result of us asking the right questions and listening carefully to the client’s answers. While that may sound simple; it takes a skilled ear to hear and decipher what the client is communicating.

          We ask: “What is it that you really want out of your financial life?”

Some clients respond with, “money, that’s what I want, more money.” That will solve the problem. But the real questions is;

          What is the problem?

          And what does money really mean to you?

Some will answer, “security, protection, a life style, travel, medical care, a legacy for my family, etc.” But others may have a whole different issue that it is hidden among emotional attachments and history. It takes a lot of listening to hear the real issue.

The following example illustrates how the value of money is not always easy to see:

The couple has sufficient assets to live comfortably for the rest of their lives; but one of the assets is illiquid (this means it needs to be sold in order to be accessed).

The wife is adamant that the primary asset, a summer home, is not to be sold under any circumstance. She will not sign a listing agreement. Humm . . . we ask: “Why?” “Is this asset so important that you will not sell it to provide for your retirement security?” Her answer, “Because that summer home is where our family gathers twice a year. It’s what keeps our family together!”

As you can see, we understand that clients do not make decisions solely based on money! Now, would you agree, it is pretty clear that emotions can be a strong influencing factor?

This is why it is imperative to select an advisor who will listen carefully to you to hear what you are really saying in order to clarify your unique wishes. That’s exactly what we do for you. Then, and only then, will we attach numbers to your wishes and develop strategies that will help attain your goals.

So, now it’s your turn and we ask you: “What is it that you really want out of your financial life?”

We can’t wait to hear your answer. We’re listening . . .
